All of our teachers have completed the Music Together Training Workshop developed by the Center for Music and Young Children in Princeton, NJ.

Our teachers create a fun, informal, social setting that spurs engagement and supports each child's individual learning style.

The Director of Music Together of Naperville, Joan studied voice and piano at the University of Northern Iowa before deciding to enter the unrelated field of nursing. Working as a pediatric nurse, she was amazed at the affect music had on her patients. While doing her homework on various early childhood music classes, she fell in love with Music Together, and brought the program to Naperville in the summer of 2000. Joan is a Certification Level One Instructor and is a candidate for Certification Level Two. She lives in south Naperville with her family and super-dog, Patch.

Melinda has a Bachelors degree in Early Childhood Studies from Cornell University and did post-graduate work in Early Childhood Education at the University of Illinois. She also studied Piano Performance during college and previously taught group and private piano lessons. Melinda studied a variety of instruments growing up including violin, cello, and harpsichord. After many years of enjoying Music Together classes with her children, Melinda became a registered Music Together teacher. Now a Certification Level One Instructor, Melinda is in her 5th year of teaching. She and her husband, Steve, are raising their 6 kids in a very musically diverse household! In addition to teaching Music Together, Melinda also provides entertainment for children's parties.

Amy 'Josie' Thompson is a busy mom of 3 boys. She has a Bachelors degree from Brigham Young University and has worked with children on many different levels through service projects, reading with children at elementary schools, and babysitting. She has been playing the piano since she was 8 years old, has some background in flute as well as the guitar. She has professional training in vocals and has sung in numerous performing choirs. She also has danced and competed in ballet, jazz, tap, and ballroom competitions. She loves to travel and has been to many parts of Europe. She has recently moved from London, England where she lived with her family for 19 months. In her spare time she reads, scrapbooks, and most importantly spends time chasing three very active young boys.

Becky Muraida is originally from Traverse City, Michigan. She holds a Bachelors degree in Music Education from Central Michigan University. Before becoming a full time mom, she taught general music classes for Summit Hill School District for five years. Currently, Becky has a studio of private clarinet and saxophone students, and she plays the days away with her two young girls.

Rob Lehner has a Music Education Degree from Indiana Wesleyan University. He has been a professional vocalist for 25 years, singing in the Lyric Opera, Chicago Opera Theatre and Music of the Baroque choruses as well as performing solos with regional orchestras. Rob is a restaurant manager for Lettuce Entertain You, and a Certified Sommelier. He is also a singer-songwriter with his own album. Rob plays guitar and is currently learning the mandolin. He came to Music Together through his two young sons involvement. He was wowed by the classes as a Dad, and is eager to share his enthusiasm as a teacher.

Music has been a part of Daniel's life for as long as he can remember. He sang and traveled with the Niles College of Loyola Unversity Choir. He's taught himself to play guitar and harmonica, and currently plays with the worship service band at the Celebration campus of Our Saviour's Lutheran Church and with various local bands and music projects. Daniel is a father of four, and makes music a natural part of his family's daily life.

Lynn has been involved in music for over 35 years. She studied music at the University of Illinois and has directed children’s musicals, sung in many choirs has led a praise team for the past 10 years. Lynn lives in Aurora with her husband, Mike and their four children. Music has always been a part of family life, which has transferred to her children who play and sing everyday!

Roberta graduated from DePauw University with a Bachelor’s degree in Music Education and also holds a Master’s degree in Educational Counseling from the University of Phoenix. She was a high school and middle school choir director in Las Vegas, Nevada, and currently directs the Children and Youth Choirs at Union Church in Hinsdale. Roberta lives in Woodridge with her husband and two adorable daughters.

Marisa Walsh has her Bachelors Degree in Child Development from Northern Illinois University. Prior to having her son, who is now three, she worked as a Child Development Specialist providing home visits and play groups for children ages birth to three. Marisa has always loved music. She participated in various vocal groups in high school, played clarinet in the school band, and took piano lessons for 10 years.

Miss Marisa is currently on maternity leave, and we hope to see her again in the spring!

Dan Ridges and Roberta Wentling
